🔍Discoveries

Overview

There are many unknowns in the sprawling uncharted terrain of Gold Fever. As a wise hunter once said: "Knowing is half the battle!". The players can find and discover herbs, animals, and deposits worldwide. For any of these to be "discovered" more details will have to be uncovered by talking to much more experienced hunters or reading specialized books on the subject that can be found in the world.

All of the vital information will be stored in the in-game Journal. Having all of the necessary information in one place will help anyone keep track of the many new discoveries.

Discovering any of these is permanent for the entire account and allows for better tracking.

Remember, to be forewarned is to be forearmed against any surprises.

Beasts & Bestiary

Wild dangerous beasts roam the world. Sometimes the hunter becomes the prey, and that always ends poorly. Thus, collecting any insight is pivotal to survival in the wilderness. Whenever an animal is encountered for the first time, an entry is made in the Bestiary section of the journal with only a picture of what it looks like.

The carcass of the animal will then need to be taken to an experienced hunter who will then share knowledge and fill the entire section of the bestiary with information like:

  • The animal's full name.

  • Where it can be commonly found.

  • If it can be baited and what bait can be used.

  • Any weaknesses it might have.

Additionally, this will allow the player's character to begin tracking an animal.

Herbs & Herbarium

Ignorance of flora is just as deadly as not knowing the predators and prey of the islands' fauna. Some plants could be used as cooking ingredients, some can be eaten raw and some might have medical properties... Are you willing to stake your life on which is which?

Whenever a plant is harvested in the wild for the first time, an entry is made in the Herbarium section of the journal with only a picture of what it looks like.

The plant must then be presented to a skilled healer who will record details about the plant in the herbarium, such as:

  • The plant's full name.

  • Where it can be commonly found.

  • Most common building recipes include it.

  • Any crafting recipes for it

Additionally, this will allow the player's character to begin tracking that plant.

Ore & Geology

Every miner worth his salt knows that not everything that glitters is gold. This is important if someone plans to risk life and limb for a few potentially precious pebbles.

An entry is written in the Geology section of the journal with merely a photograph of the newly discovered mineral deposit after it has been harvested.

A skilled miner or jeweler will need to see the plant so they can unlock the full portion of the geology and provide details such as:

  • Ore's full name.

  • Where it can be commonly found.

  • Most common building recipes include it.

  • Any crafting recipes for it.

Additionally, this will allow the player's character to begin tracking the ore deposits.
